Synopsis

Venessa grew up shielded from every consequence money could absorb, and that shelter becomes the problem the night her sister is murdered. Before the funeral is over she learns that her husband, together with the friend she has known since childhood, moved to shield the murderer from any prosecution. Rage would be the easy answer, and she picks something colder instead: a verdict, built from evidence and testimony, collected while she keeps smiling at the people who owe it. Across 52 chapters she teaches herself how the legal system actually functions, playing harmless at breakfast and gathering paper by night, with the betrayers still expecting her affection at every meal.
